Q5. Are there more Gods than one?
There is but one only the living and true God.
Every morning the Israelite got up and as part of his morning routine said the Shema: Hear O Israel the Lord our God, the Lord is one…… Deut 6:4-9 It reminded them, and it reminds us there is one God, the living and true God. To state it negatively: there are no other gods, there is not a multiplicity of gods. All other gods are not living and are false. There are not two dominant forces battling it out in the Galaxy. There is one God and no other.
That means that the gods whom people worship are not real, not living, not true
Mohammed is not God
Confucious is not God
Money is not God
Sex is not God
As Paul says in the context of speaking about idols “there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” (1 Corinthians 8:6)
Because there is one God there is one way to know him, there is one way of Salvation: “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 2:5)
